Colistin sulfate has a strong antibacterial effect on gram-negative bacteria, and sensitive bacteria include Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Helicobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., and Vibrio spp. Proteus spp., Brucella spp., Serratia spp., and all Gram-positive bacteria are resistant to this product. Colistin sulfate is mainly used for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by gram-negative bacilli (E. coli, etc.) and is also effective for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections (sepsis, urinary tract infection, burn or traumatic wound infection).
